sporadic ramblings

Cup day was starting to become a little boring with Makybe Diva winning 3 consecutive melbourne cups. Where's the fun in that? Then again I guess it's a little bit like watching Roger Federer play tennis. You know they're good, you think they're probably gonna win, but you still watch it anyway in case they don't.

And then the Diva retired. And it was all new and unknown.

At the office today, we printed out the list of horses, put our names next to the horses of our choice, and crowded around a little radio alarm clock thing. It's hard to figure out what's going on without a TV screen in front of you, but hey, we worked it out, and guess who picked the winning horse? =)

Me! And I have proof!



Too bad I didn't put any money on it. Oh well. It was still fun.

Mum's birthday has been extra special this year hasn't it? I bought her tickets to [ Richard Clayderman ] as part of her birthday present. As a kid I used to listen to his piano pieces, and dreaming of one day playing like he does. At high school I made a "documentary" of the Swan River with Ballade Pour Adeline as my background music piece. I sort of grew up with Clayderman, but my mum absolutely adores him.



It was held at the Burswood theatre, and I managed to get us 2nd row platinum tickets, so it was a pretty big event for us, and also an excuse to dress up, really.



He still looks the same, although he's 53 years old now. He's probably had the same hairstyle his entire life. Admittedly I felt a little out of place, considering most of the people there were about 60 years old, but it was quite nice regardless.

My mum said she really really enjoyed it.
Mission accomplished, I guess. =)
