the hunt for crustaceans

Yesterday, the day was spent at Mandurah with a group of 7 others. It was organised weeks beforehand and promised to be a day full of fun and friends and food! Mandurah is approximately 74kms south of Perth and is a popular spot for fishing and crabbing. We armed ourselves with crab scoops, drop nets, fishing rods, old shoes, a change of clothes, eskies, drinks and snacks and embarked on our little adventure in 2 CRVs, filled with expectations and looking forward to dinner somewhat like this:

Little did we know, the crabs were in hiding. We went to 3 different spots, caught 2 undersized crabs, returned them to the water, and trekked home empty handed. We didn't even catch any fish!

It was rather eventful but fruitless. I was rather disappointed. I was looking forward to having some crab. =(

Oh well. Maybe we'll try again in a week or two. Maybe we were just at the wrong spot.
If anyone knows some good fishing/crabbing spots in Mandurah, PLEASE let me know!!

randomness

Walked into the city with a friend for lunch today. We were initially headed for Taka's at Shafto Lane, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we decided not to. So, we ended up going to Chi instead.

On the way there, the oddest thing happened. This guy on a bike was crossing the road, came towards us and said "Why the hell is that woman walking around advertising a bikini competition when she has no breasts?"

Yes, random comment of the week.
I remember saying to my friend, "I'm going to have to blog this."

why are nice beds so expensive?

Sleep does good things for me. I love this bed by Bedtek. They have so many beautiful beds and I love them ALL. The clean lines and simple designs. I just love love love them!

Now..I suppose I would need a house to put my bed in. Oh, if only money grew on trees.

Don't forget, $19 million super draw this Saturday. Have u bought your lotto ticket? I have.

a little insight to india

It was all fascinatingly indian for the first half of today.

I caught up with Lennon and we had lunch at Nine Mary's . Of course I let the guy order for me, seeing as I am totally clueless when it comes to indian food. We both had vegetarian Thali (see below for definition). It was rather interesting although the lentils were a little beany for my tastes. It was rather nice on the palate and I love spicy food, so this was just all good. The place was posh and modern but the food was apparently rather authentic, according to Lennon.

We sat there for a good hour or two chatting about life and work and more interestingly, his recent trip to India! He brought along his laptop, and after a few technical difficulties, I sat there looking at all these amazing pictures of the Taj Mahal and all these other temples and buildings intricately carved out of marble and huge blocks of stone, while he sat there explaining and pointing and filling me in. It's amazing how much effort and time went into creating these works of art. But wow, I was positively blown away. Guess I'll have to visit India sometime soon!

Thali - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

"Thali is an Indian meal with contents varying from one regional cuisine to another. A thali is a selection of different dishes, usually served in small bowls on a round tray. Typical dishes might include rice, dal, vegetables, chapati, papad, curd (yoghurt), small amounts of chutney or pickle, and a sweet dish to top it."

happy anniversary

Our anniversary this year was rather special. I got flowers sent to the office! It was slightly embarrassing but it was SO SWEET. We went to Limoncello for dinner and had a great big seafood platter. It was great but my cholesterol levels probably went sky high after that meal. I haven't enjoyed dinner like I did that evening in a long, long time. Simply marvelous.

The next day we packed a picnic basket and went to Movies By Burswood. We had never been before and frankly didn't know what to expect. There was a HUGE crowd, and unfortunately big tall people decided to set up camp right between us and the big screen. Oh well. Note for next time: Buy tickets from Bocs and pick up tickets before the day, arrive at 6:30pm when the gates open and SIT UP THE FRONT! We watched Constant Gardener, and although it had a rather interesting story line, I probably would have fallen asleep had I watched this movie at home. They had a forced intermission halfway through the movie for Chinese New Year fireworks. We were right there and fireworks are always nice to watch up close. The experience was great and if you haven't been, I suggest going at least once!

Thanks for making our anniversary special, you.

Luv you muchly much =)
